I find it hard to believe that my time in Cape Dorset is quickly coming to an end. I look around and want to savour every second of the students, the school, my new friends in the community and of course the beautiful nature that surrounds us daily. I was talking to one of my students the other day as we were learning about the provinces and territories of Canada and I said how beautiful it is here in Cape Dorset and he asked "it is, I love it here, do you?" and I do. This whole trip has seemed surreal and I know it will take some time to really reflect on it.
As usual the tears are starting to fill my eyes as I begin to think about saying goodbye. It's always a hard thing, but particularly when the experience has opened my heart to an area of our country I never thought I would get to be a part of. Anyone lucky enough to come to Cape Dorset, whether it is for work or a visit, should know they are coming to a community that has a strong sense of it's own identity and that will open it's arms to those who come here if they are willing to become a part of the action.
